FAQs

What type of fabric is used for the Amaterasu swimwear?

We use globally patented innovative tan-through fabrics developed and made in the EU. This high-tech fabric allows you to get a tan, while it selectively filters ultraviolet sunlight to achieve a safer tanning.

What is the composition of the fabrics?

The smart fabric chemical composition is 81% special Polyester and 19% Lycra.

How do tan-through bathing suits work?

The swimsuit fabric consists of thousands of pores that let the sun rays through. The smart cloth blocks most of the burning UV-B rays, but allows a sufficient percentage of the browning UV-A sun rays. Your swimwear works like a good sunscreen.

Why doesn't a swimsuit block UV-B rays completely?

A very small percentage of the UV-B sun rays pass through the swimwear as you need this small percentage to get a tan.

Are Amaterasu swimsuits transparent?

No, smart swimsuits are not transparent. The intense print we use visually covers the body and creates an opaque effect. So, the level of transparency may depend on how much it is stretched on the body.

Should I use sunscreen under a tan-through swimwear?

The use of suncream under the garment is not recommended because a smart swimsuit works like a sun cream. You should protect your skin with sunscreen in places that are not covered by the swimsuit.

How long can I sunbathe in a swimsuit?

Amaterasu swimsuits with sleeves allow you to stay in the sun much longer than regular swimwear. A swimsuit works like a sunscreen with an average level of SPF 9.
